Dwin Morcant is a struggling musician--well, he plays the viol anyway, musician implies it pays--trying to find purpose in the unlikeliest of cities. Baystone is a city that thrives due to the sanctioned university of thieves. Along the way, some brilliant politician decided that the best crime was not a crime after all. It was taxed. It was not long before Baystone was training and exporting elite thieves to anyone with deep enough pockets to afford the best.
Attempting to reconcile his passion with an incongruous world, Dwin does the only thing he knows to do. Wake up and greet the world.
